CATARACTS ARE THE 2019
It can be said of the Central Playoffs, pivotal Game Six that the Cats victory 'at Home' had contributions from every single Cat player! A complete team effort! A thing of beauty to behold! And, indeed a packed house was in the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium to "behold" the non-stop display of action from the Cataracts...(The 50-50 was $1,100.00). An 'old' veteran, Sam Hounsell, got a momentum- maintaining 2nd goal on a bullet from the point. Cats' young stars Danny Wicks and Michael Cole scored the other two goals. HERDER FINAL IS NEXT The Herder apparently starts on the weekend of April 6th, the first two games 'out east'. The East Coast 4 out of 7 playoff Final, between Clarenville and Southern Shore Breakers, is just starting: Game 1 is on Sunday,March 17th - Game 7, if necessary, is scheduled for Tuesday,April 2nd. EAST 'PICKUPS A BIG CONTROVERSEY FOR HERDER! No official word yet from HNL on how many 'pick-ups' the Herder, eventual East Representative team will be permitted. The issue has been very contentious, particularly this Season since Clarenville has essentially the same team it had last season when the Bous won the Herder (while in the Central West League)! The Central teams have vehemently argued with HNL and the East 'league' in meetings all season that there should be no pick-ups for any team... And, if any pick-ups, one 'pick up' player added - to either the Bous or Breakers who are now the 'east' finalists - is a maximum!
