CATARACTS WIN TWO ON THE ROAD. LEAD HERDER 2-0
The Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts have a two games to none lead in Herder Memorial Championship Series. The Cataracts swept the opening two games on the road against the Southern Shore Breakers over the weekend at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay. On Saturday the team overcame an early two-goal deficit to pull out a 4-3 victory in Game One. Kyle McGuirk was the hero for the Cataracts notching a late power play goal for the win. Andre Gill, Danny Wicks and Patty Yetman also scored for the Cataracts. In Game Two Sunday Kyle McGuirk got the Cats off to a fast start scoring in the first minute of the game. Andre Gill, Danny Wicks, Rodi Short and Michael Cole chipped in with singles. A.J. Whiffen was the winning goalie in both games. The series now shifts to the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium in Grand Falls-Windsor for games Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon, if necessary. Tickets for those games will be available for purchase by Holding Seat owners Tuesday evening from 7-9 at the stadium Box Office, and to the General Public Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the same times or on game day. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone by credit card by calling 489-0459 Thursday or Friday from 9 to 4. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for youth 12 and under.
